Lappish Fishing Retreat

Our private experiences are invite only for our previous guests. The Arctic Calm is a slower journey into the quiet side of winter. Designed for those seeking stillness, warmth and space to breathe, this five-night stay combines gentle outdoor experiences with restorative moments indoors. Days unfold between silent forest walks, soft winter light and traditional northern rituals, while evenings return you to sauna heat, candlelight and the comfort of your chalet. It is an invitation to step away from noise and rediscover the rhythm of the North — where silence is not empty, but deeply restorative.

Arrival

The journey begins with arrival in Syöte, where quiet forests and clear northern lakes set the stage for the days ahead. After settling into the chalet, the evening is spent easing into the rhythm of the retreat. In the warmth of the sauna, the coming fishing days are planned together: which waters to explore, what techniques to use and how the week will unfold across lakes and rivers.

Perch Paradise

The first full fishing day is dedicated to perch. The lakes around Syöte are known for producing massive perch, and these same waters have even yielded Finland’s record perch weighing 2.88 kg. Fishing takes place from a boat using jigging techniques, allowing you to target deeper structures and underwater features where larger fish often gather. Between casts, the quiet lake landscape offers the perfect setting to focus fully on the rhythm of fishing.

Northern Pike

The third day focuses on northern pike, the powerful predator of these northern lakes. Shallow bays, weed beds and reed-lined shorelines create perfect ambush territory for large pike. Fishing is active and visual, covering water with larger lures and casting along promising structures. Strong strikes and aggressive takes are part of the excitement as you search for the biggest fish of the trip.

River Day

After the lake fishing days, the journey continues to flowing waters. Clear northern rivers offer the chance to pursue prized species such as grayling and trout, known as some of the most valued fish of Lapland. Fishing takes place along rapids and deeper pools where these fish rise to flies or strike small lures in the current. In the evening, traditional whitefish nets are set in a nearby lake to be checked the following morning.
